Greetings from the Jeddah Economic Forum Management Team!

As the Jeddah Economic Forum draws near, please find below some information for your participation in the upcoming Jeddah Economic Forum 2010.

Visa Application and Visa Approval Number
Most of you have received your approval number. Please update us if you face any difficulties in stamping your visas.

Travel
For the delegates who have not finalized their travel plans and are making their own arrangements, please update us with your travel plans as we are currently making hotel reservations and requesting airport transfers.

Jeddah International Airport
Jeddah is served by King Abdulaziz International Airport. Jeddah International Airport is 18 kilometres from the Jeddah Hilton hotel, around 15 minutes by car. Taxis and limousines are available from the airport and fares cost around SAR 30.

Airport transfers
All the delegates will be received by JEF team from the VIP terminal.
The baggage will be transferred to their hotel directly.
Our team will check in each delegate upon arrival.
Help desk for Jeddah Economic Forum will be available in the hotel lobby.

Dietary Requests

Do's and Don'ts
It is very important for guests to know the following:
Saudi Arabia Tourism informs the tourists on the various Do's and Don'ts in Saudi Arabia. Consumption of alcohol is strictly forbidden. Eating of pork too is prohibited. Tourists therefore cannot indulge in drinks and there is no provision of a bar. It is very important to refrain from carrying or drinking any alcohol when entering Saudi Arabia.

Dress Code
The dress code in Saudi is very important has to be modest for both men and women. Women cannot show any skin above their ankles. No low-cut shirts, and sleeves should be longer, almost to the shoulder. Clothing should not be skin tight or clingy. The best dress for women is abaya (long black robe that Muslim women wear). The Abaya can be fine material but it is incredibly sheer in that it breathes well. All women are recommended to wear the abaya and head scarf (head covering) by Islamic/Saudi religious law. It is also viewed as more respectful by the Muslim community.

Jeddah Economic Forum
Seating for Ladies
According to Saudi Customs for all the social functions, men and women are seated separately. For the forum, there will be a separate seating area for the ladies where the ladies will have an exclusive section to attend the forum. Men and women will be given seats in the designated areas.

Cameras and Photographs
During the forum, it is not allowed to take photographs of the Forum. No Cameras or mobile phone cameras should be used to click any kind of photographs. This is for security reasons.

Social Program during JEF Forum
There will be two tours organized for JEF participants during the Forum:

  1. Daily tours for “UMRA” will be organized for the Muslims on Friday, 12th February, Saturday, 13th February and Sunday, 14th Feb 2010. Buses will be available to take the guests from the Jeddah Hilton hotel. Buses will leave at 6pm for UMRA visits. This tour will be approximately for 2 hours.
  2. The second tour will be all JEF participants on Sunday, 14th Feb and Monday, 15th Feb which will be the city tour for sightseeing in Jeddah. This tour will be from 5pm to 8pm on both the days. Buses will leave from the Jeddah Hilton hotel on these days.

All guests are requested to inform Ms. Sanya Kapasi at sanya@grc.ae and Ms. Mastaneh Gol at mgol@grc.ae if they wish to take any of the above tours so that the transport can be organized accordingly.

Weather conditions
Unlike other Saudi Arabian cities, Jeddah retains its warm temperature in winter, which can range from +20°C (68 °F) at midnight to +25 °C (77 °F) in the afternoon. The weather is very mild and pleasant during this period.

Currencies
The official currency is the Saudi Riyal (SAR) and one US$1 is equal to 3.75 SAR.
