Dr. E. Wayne Holden is Executive Vice President of Social, Statistical and Environmental Sciences (SSES) at RTI International. SSES conducts projects that involve large-scale data collection and management with an emphasis on applying complex methodological, statistical and epidemiological approaches to important public policy issues. He has personally directed research addressing major health care policy interventions and been substantially involved in attempts to address education sector reform. In his current position, he oversees a large applied research organization committed to turning research results into policy reform and practice. Dr. Holden received his Ph.D. in clinical/ community psychology from the University of South Carolina and completed his clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the University Of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He also completed training in biostatistics, epidemiology and public health at the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health. He has held faculty appointments at Auburn University, the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and Emory University School of Medicine. He currently holds an appointment as a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Duke University School of Medicine. Dr. Holden has authored more than 130 articles, books, or book chapters on various topics in health services research.
